Helpful Tips On Moving Day
Today is moving day so what can you expect? Read our handy moving day hints and tips guide below for what to expect on the day.
Legal Reasons For Moving Day Delays
Unfortunately, with the legal side of things there is still a bit more waiting to be done.
Starting at the beginning of the chain, money will start to be exchanged before keys are finally handed over. The contracts will stipulate by what time you must have vacated the property, but this is usually between 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
If you are at the end of the chain, then there is a chance that you will not have received your keys by that point and so again are forced to wait, and possibly make a number of calls to your solicitor, until such time as you do receive them.
Removal Companies In Lincolnshire
When it comes to the removals process, DPH Removals are one of the leading removal companies in Lincolnshire and are highly experienced with removals, but what is the process?
Each removal company will do things slightly differently, and each individual job can differ slightly depending on the requirements, but hopefully this guide will help give you a little bit of an idea of what to expect.
You should have been notified what time to expect our team, though this is usually around 9:00am, unless it is a bigger job or requires a significant amount of travelling between properties, in which case they may want an earlier start.
When the team arrives, they will complete a walk around with you, just to confirm what items are going, what items are to be left and any other requirements that you might have.
This is your opportunity to let the team know if there are any items that need particular care. If there is any furniture that will not fit through the door and needs to be dismantled, then we will ask you what you would like us to do.
We can offer a dismantling service, but this would incur an extra charge, unless previously agreed.
Furniture Removals
The team will start loading your items on to our vehicles, and I am sure the team and you and your family will be grateful for some refreshments, so it is a good ideal not to pack the kettle in advance!
Furniture and more fragile items will get wrapped in removal blankets to prevent them rubbing on anything and being damaged once on the van – furniture covers and mattress bags can also be used.
If you have any questions during the furniture removals process, then please ask a member of our team who will be glad to help.
There will inevitably be those last few items that will need packing and we will help with these if needed, but from this point on, our furniture removals team will carefully load all your items onto our vehicles, so you can sit back and relax.
Moving Into A New House
Hopefully, by the time that all the items are loaded, you will be in receipt of the keys ready for moving into a new house, so our team will head straight on over, ready to start unloading.
If not, then our team will find somewhere to await your call to let them know when you are ready for moving into a new house.
If you are part of a long chain, then there is always a chance that you might not get the keys until late and can end up being out of the house for a long time.
It is always worth being prepared and making sure you have supplies with you and somewhere more comfortable to spend the time.
Dependent on the individual circumstances of each job we will wait, if possible, but sometimes it will be necessary to reschedule.
Once at the new property, the team will again have a quick walk around so that you can start to give them an idea of where you would like everything to be unloaded.
This can be aided by labelling boxes and larger furniture items clearly with which room you would like it to be placed in, and this will save time and confusion.
No need to worry if it is raining or muddy near the entrance as we carry carpet protection with us, and we will often employ a ‘one-in-one-out’ plan to prevent any dirt being traipsed into the property, which is the last thing you want to be cleaning up after as soon as you’ve moved in!
Once the team have finished unloading and completing any reassembly that had been requested, they will get you to confirm that everything has been unloaded from our vehicles and that you are happy that everything has been completed as requested.
There is normally some paperwork to sign to confirm that the job has been completed and then we will be on our way.
